As if we needed to be reminded--this tells us once again how astonishing Ryun was. If anyone hasn't yet seen it, there's excellent silent footage of the entire race on youtube.
Is Jack being inconsistent with the listing of similar hand and auto times, or is there a reason behind it that I don't know about? I kind of thought that a hand time out to the same tenths place would be listed ahead of an auto time. Thus, this seems listed correctly.
4:02.0 Ryun
4:02.01 Sharif Karie
But later, we have:
4:05.14 Victor Gras
4:05.1 Garry Bjorklund
4:05.19 Erik Stanley
I'm not sure about the conventions on this pair, but I would probably switch them:
4:05.30 Chris Solinsky
4:05.3 John Robinson
Looking at pela's lists, I think that Jack just futzed some of them up.

No fault of Jack's.... he subscribes to the theory that only the 10ths column matters if there's a hand time, T&FN believes that if it's an auto time and the 10ths match, then auto-time goes first no matter if tehre are extra 100ths in the way. Jack did list his way, and in the conversion to "our" method somebody got interrupted in the middle of the process apparently. Updated version will have all of them the same way.
