  • December PV all-time best?

There is some discussion on my site as to whether or not Renaud Lavillenie set a new December all-time best when he jumped 5.81 recently: http://polevaultpower.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16443 PV Historian Gerard Dumas thinks yes.

Anyone know of any higher marks in December?

I am pretty far from being a pole vault expert but Pela2's alltime-athletics.com site has a mark for December 24, 1988 by Gataullin that is higher:

5.90 Rodion Gataullin RUS Tashkent 24.12.1988

    http://www.alltime-athletics.com/mpoleok.htm

The mark isn't listed on tilastopaja but that may be because they don't carry all the marks from the '80s just yet.

Also (thanks to Peter's lists), Paul Burgess vaulted 5.85m in Perth in December 2006 and Billy Olson cleared 5.86m indoors in Saskatoon in December 1985. Gataullin also has another high December vault to his name - an indoor 5.81m (also in Tashkent) in 1986. So it would seem that Lavillenie's 5.81m is the fifth best vault for December.
