The Pioneer 8K, in Victoria, B.C., kicks off the Canadian road-racing season on Sunday. This is the 30th annual event, and this year is also the B.C. 8 K. Championships.
Jon Brown will be on the start line. However the Race Record of 22:58, set by Carey Nelson in 1985, will not be an easy target. The Women's Record is 26:08, Debbie Scott (Bowker) in 1986.
Past winners include Canadian Olympians Carey Nelson, Dave Campbell, Paul McCloy, Bruce Deacon, Debbie Bowker, Angela Chalmers, Leah Pells, and Tina Connelly, as well as many National-team athletes who didn't quite make the big O.
