    MONTGOMERY HEADLINES 100 FIELD

World Recordholder Tim Montgomery will head a Prefontaine Classic field on May 24th that includes five of the top ten 100-meter sprinters in the world last year, as ranked by Track & Field News magazine. Montgomery garnered the No. 1 ranking off his scintillating 9.78 WR in Paris, while Kim Collins of St. Kitts was ranked No. 4, Bernard Williams No. 6, Coby Miller No. 7, and Jon Drummond No. 10. Every one of these sprinters broke 10 flat last year, as did entrant Shawn Crawford (9.94), one of the world's greatest 200 specialists. Burgeoning superstar Darrel Brown of Trinidad, the reigning World Junior Champion, rounds out the field.

    GUEVARA JOINS WOMEN'S 400 FIELD

Ranked No. 1 in the world by both Track & Field News and the IAAF World Rankings, Mexico's Ana Guevara is the latest addition to a field which already includes Olympic Champion Cathy Freeman. Guevara was undefeated in 2002, winning all 11 of her races, and ran the fastest 400 in six years, 49.16. She has started this year just as hot, with a World Record in the rarely-run 300 meters. It will be Guevara's first-ever appearance in the Prefontaine Classic.

Guevara versus Freeman in the 400! Awesome. Good to see Freeman isn't ducking the competition in her return to fitness.
