  • WR Hype?

Article link on front page says Josh Cox will go for a 50K world best at the RNR Marathon. This seems like a tall order given he will have to run a 2:15 Marathon en route and his PR is 2:13:57 (8 years ago). Could he still be eligible for Marathon placing and prize money?

Also, Geb seems to be going for the WR in Dubai. I give him a better chance than Cox, but suspect it is too soon after Berlin.

I wish them luck, but I am betting neither will achieve a record.

2:15 is hoofin' it. So if a marathon runner hits the wall at 20 miles and then just holds on for dear life for another 6 miles, how does a 50Ker hold that pace for an additional FIVE MORE miles after that??!! That's sub-16:00 5K pace, which is flying for a very good HS boy CC runner.

This weekend also has the Ras al Khaimah half-marathon which seems to be one of the deepest half-marathon fields ever with 13 guys who have all gone sub60:
