boston marathon now closed, elite fields?

the boston marathon has now announced 4 elite athletes, defending champion robert cheruiyot and dire tune and american stars ryan hall and kara goucher, now that it is too late to enter and they have released 4 big names, why dont they release the entire elite fields? london is 6 days after boston and they released theirs a couple of months ago.

I don't know the answer, but I do know that many meets and races announce their fields a few at a time to generate news stories on more days. That makes sense to me.
