  • Do you like college track and field statistics?

Then you will like this project I've been working on...

    http://www.athletic.net/TrackAndField/College/

I have the results imported for most of the major college meets. Still need to catch up on smaller meets from this past weekend.

Lots of things to improve on... we haven't got the metric conversions right yet (but once it gets fixed it will fix all of the results already converted) and there are a lot of smaller tweaks that need to be made.

Lots of cool stuff to see... you can get instant rankings for any conference, division, or all college athletes combined.

If you go to a school's page and click "Event Records" you can see all the school's marks for a season.

Oh yeah and it has a free meet registration system that imports into Hy-Tek

Alwayed wanted to find someplace that had all the school records. Who holds the 400m school record at Grambling? How about the long jump record at Minnesota?

        Cool stuff.

I'm "fairly certain" that German Fernandez passed the 1500 meter mark in a faster time than current 1500 meter leader John Ricardi 4:11.06a ID Idaho State.

He actually might've been able to turn around and get back to the 1500 meter line in 4:11 after crossing the mile in 3:56

The collegiate list is missing the multis; could they be added? I suspect that Eatons 6100+ leads the men's list.

It is possible for a school to go back and load all of their results from past years to get school all-time lists. My high school did this: http://www.athletic.net/TrackAndField/S ... hoolID=345

Especially cool at the high school level because it allows you to everyone who has ever done an event, and break it down by grade records.

However, it takes an ambitious parent/SID/coach with a lot of time on their hands.

Haha yeah the 1500 is not run very often indoors. We need to clean up the list of events that is displayed on the front page

Same as the above comment, I need to get him to make that one of the events listed on the front page.

                  Here is the men's hep list: http://www.athletic.net/TrackAndField/D ... ivID=10058

Although multis tend to be missing more marks than other events because some meets leave out the scores, and when they publish them in the format that shows every event by that person, I can't automatically process it and I have to go back and reformat. I have been trying to do that for hep scores, but I am sure I am missing some.

From that page you can see any event we've recorded. 2 meets have run the 200m hurdles! We are missing yard events and the 3k racewalk, hopefully we'll get the 600y run added and the 3k racewalk.

Well I have been plugging away at this faithfully and I have most of the results from the season up: http://www.athletic.net/TrackAndField/College/

Feel free to let me know about any meets I am missing or mistakes you see. I take requests.

Now that NCAAs are here, I thought this was worth mentioning again. Here is all of the DI info: http://www.athletic.net/TrackAndField/C ... AA/D1.aspx

I have almost every meet entered. Click on any athlete's name to see all their stats.

Oh also, I don't mind if people copy and paste information from athletic.net into message boards, just mention that's where you got it from. It's not like Tilastopaja where it's a paid subscription.

My gosh, where did someone get the raw data for your HS? I mean, to see that some kid named Jeff Hudon ran the 1600 in 5:32 in 1979....boxes of old pencil-and-paper duel meet result sheets gathering dust in the retired AD's garage attic? Do high schools keep that sort of info for 30 years?

Of course some people--long-retired coaches-- do. I have the hand-written dual meet result sheets from my high school from 1931. By 1935 the track manager had taken to typing the results!

Our AD was the head coach since back in the 70s until a few years ago and basically got the track program started. I think there are a handful of marks that date back to the 50s, but we have pretty solid records starting in the 70s. Every year he wrote down each person's season bests.

I don't know when they started publishing our track annual... probably something Rod started when he came on board in the 90s. Anyway, every year at the beginning of the season they give all of the kids a book with all of the track stats for the team. It has all-time lists, all-time lists by grade, everyone who has ever scored at state, etc etc.

So when athletic.net came out, our coach Rod Wilcox entered ALL of that date into the system.

These are the people who got me started in track and field and fostered my love, not only for track, but for track stats. When I was in HS, girls pole vault was new and I had the darnedest time trying to find marks from other girls in my small division. That led me to start doing performance lists for high school vaulters in Washington, which I did from 2001-2007. I no longer do them because athletic.net is better, but I am an admin on athletic.net and add in any pole vault marks for WA that go missing.

So if you want a glimpse of where people like me come from, you can look at my high school's page on athletic.net
