The OP was generated by Jordan Hasay on the 3/09 cover. Since then:
    October 09--Ryan Crouser
    October 11--Arman (Geno) Hall
    March 13--Mary Cain
    October 14--Kaylin Whitney
    December 13--Trentavis Friday
    October 15--Candace Hill
    December 15--Noah Lyles

and now April of 16 is Drew Hunter.

The cover is the subject of this news article (with a slightly different list of previous HS cover subjects): http://www.sanluisobispo.com/sports/story/613977.html

Slightly off-topic, but wanted to say I enjoyed the "Questions" piece, as usual. Maybe it's just because I simply had the opportunity to sit down and read the whole mag in one sitting for the first time since, I dunno, the June issue, but I really got into it. The "Questions" device is a nice unifier of a disparate number of topics, most of which I wouldn't think too deeply about as shorter blurbs.

    Thanks.

Both of these were before picture only on cover.
Lindgren and Ryun were were both on p. 1 (as opposed to "cover") as preps twice.

As I was looking through past covers, I remembered the name Hordge. A bit later I found the cover of him anchoring the world junior 4x1, I think. I think he was a HSer at that point. I may be wrong.
Yes, Texan Willie Hordge at the '02 World Junior. Not in a HS uni, but since he was just an 11th-grader, no doubt as to what he was.

You're being coy, dj, but I think I remember the name... Sam Walker.

To clarify we're talking the "cover" vs "page 1" which is what, technically speaking, the front of T&FN was in the pre-full photo era, which begins (other than a few Annual Editions) with 1968.
    Oh yes! SW SP.

Without a doubt. Just ask Justin Gatlin about that (before he got busted).

This is a trivia question that I believe has been posed and answered several times in the past.... now if you can only figure out how to make the search engine work in your favor!
