    Happens all the time in HS, including big invitationals. Either there's no gauge, or it's not working, or the operator doesn't know how to operate it, or they simply don't report wind readings, or the best reason of all (and sadly it almost makes sense): we have no idea whether the wind was legal for the last record, so we're letting this one stand too.

      Because the NCAA allows OT marks to qualify for the nationals, the concept of "legality" has been completely blown away at the collegiate level. And schools are screwing legit school record holders by taking away their marks and giving them to those who don't really deserve it. Coming soon, school records outdoors with 20mph winds.[/quote]

      Doesn't the ncaa already allow qualifying times outdoors with up to 4.0 mps wind? That already makes it confusing for school record!
