"KINGSTON (Reuters) - World 100 and 200 meters record holder and Olympic champion Usain Bolt sped to victory in his first race of the season on Saturday, winning a 400 heat in 46.35 seconds at the outdoor Camperdown Classic in Jamaica."

45.54 for Bolt today at the UWI. Well, I guess LaShawn Merrit asked for it.

Screw that, Yohan Blake ran 20.14 for the 200m. He's getting there.

At UWI? UWI only has a dirt track, unless they recently built a rubberized one that I don't know of. The news reports on the Internet says the race was at the National Stadium. If he ran 45.54 on dirt at this time of the season, that would be a sign of major trouble to come for the rest of the 400m world!

I stand corrected. It seems that the meet was put on by the UWI at the National Stadium. By the way, how long will it be before National Stadium is renamed to Usain Bolt Stadium? Does he need to duplicate his Bejing performance in London in order for that to happen?

If it wasn't named Herb McKenley Stadium or Don Quarrie Stadium, it may not be named Usain Bolt Stadium any time soon. (Yes, I know there's a difference between what they did and what he did, but I can see why they may want to keep the name.)

I hope Bolt wont get injuries because of trying to do too much.

I agree that he should be careful about injuries. When you are behind in your conditioning, you are forced to push things and that leads to injuries. If he gets injured, he will have his hands full in August. He needs to be very careful. 45.54 signals to be that he is conditioning well.

Do you think bolt wil run another 400mteres before he opens up for the shorter sprints ?

Does that officially make him the best 1-2-4 guy now?

I think he has one more 400M to run. It could be a 4 x 400 M relay at Gibson next week.

He was already faster at 45.28 from 2007.
