  • German NC

There's even a Live Stream this year
    http://www.leichtathletik.de/Dokumente/ ... index.html

Verena Sailer equaled her PB already in the heats with 7.23  .
Sabine Krantz (born Zimmer) and Andre Höhne set WL in the walks and Katja Demut jumped the EC qualifier with 14.06 (which may hardly raise an eyebrow but the female TJ is a notorious weak point with German athletes never qualifying for any international competitions).

Claudia Hoffman did a 2:11 in the 800 hts then went on to run 53.52 in the 400 hts.....apparently she was considering a move to 800m this year, and has run a 2:04 already, but that non qualifying 2:11 and then a decent 53.5 may mean she'll stick with what she knows, the 400m.

Great male long jumping and vaulting.

Friedrich is attacking 2.06, barely missed at her first attempt ...

Edit: The second was equally close ...

Second edit: And the third was a bit worse, but nevertheless she looked great especially on her winning 2m jump.

Women's PV crowned a surprisingly strong NC.

              Silke Spiegelburg 4.71 NR

              Kristina Gadschiew 4.50

              200m
              Anne Möllinger 23.51
              Cathleen Tschirch 23.58

              Claudia Hoffmann 53.17
              Jonna Tilgner 53.21
The DLV set an 52.40 EIC qualifying mark , but the women didn't intend to participate anyway.

              800m
Sebastian Keiner 1:47.81 (19 year old with an impressive solo run)

              Carsten Schlangen 3:39.06

Sosthene Moguenara 6.54 (19 year old, missing the EIC qualifier by 1cm)
Bianca Kappler had a very early comeback half a year after her terrible NC injury and finished 7th with 6.28 which is quite ok, I guess.

The results were overall of a good standard, considering the slump in some of the events in Germany recently.

It was great to see Kappler back, I really hope she can get back fit for Berlin.
I thought Tschirch ran well in the 200, considering she's been injured and had lane 3. Had she had lane 4 or 5 she may have beaten Mollinger, who always looks a little heavy IMO.

I was surprised with Kosenkow's 200 time too, and Ernst ran well.

                Friedrich was just class.

Yeah with Sailer, Wagner, Tschirch and Schielke, the German relay shapes up to be among the contenders for bronze in Berlin (assuming that Jamaica and USa don't drop the baton again).

Possibly. Sailer looks to be in her best form, and you would hope 11.2+ outdoors, while Wagner is in her best shape for a while. If she can get to 11.3+ outdoors that would be great.

Tschirch & Schielke will be the question marks: Tschirch keeps getting little niggles, while Schielke seems perpetually injured or recovering from injury. I hope giving birth has made her stronger! To be in with a medal shout, Tschirch will need to be in PB form and Schielke at her absolute best, and the baton changing must be spot on. Russia, Great Britain & possibily countries like Belarus may have 4 faster girls.

I see top 5 for Germany as a realistic goal.

Kleinert never intended to comepete at the EIC, she wasn't even at the NC. Unger has problems with his knee.
The women's relay also isn't competing because the ladies will be already in a training camp at Flagstaff at this time.

Or may not. Anyway I've ordered my tickets for the relay day and don't want to be disappointed .

If you're ever walking down the beach and you see a girl dressed in a bikini made out of seashells, and you pick her up and hold her to your ear, you can hear her scream.

Blum injured himself while falling through the finish line in Stuttgart and capped the season in order to regenerate.
