He's a beast and I'll drink to that! Finally, someone once again approaching rarified air. He's young enough to keep going higher if he remains focused and uninjured.

I'm happy he broke the Russian record which makes him higher indoors than Paklin, Avdeyenko, Voronin and others. The question is, what is he capable of doing at the European Indoor Champs? He would need a 2.43m to break the ER, but the american in me says just put it up to 2.44m (8') same as today. Apparently, his recent 2.27m was an anomaly.
If you're ever walking down the beach and you see a girl dressed in a bikini made out of seashells, and you pick her up and hold her to your ear, you can hear her scream.

2.40m clearance: Fast approach from right side of runway. Touched bar. Haven't seen slow-motion yet.

From what I understand he took only one jump at 2.44.

It seems he went from 2.32 to 2.38 where he he had a hairline miss in the first attempt. It's unclear if he took a second attempt or went right to 2.40. Had first attempt clearance at 2.40. Light touch of the bar.

Nobody else cleared 2.32. Shustov only other jumper over 2.30.

Great result indeed but he could just as well jump 2,27 again on the IEC...he has no satbility in his technique.
But when he has the day he can jump higher than anyone that's for sure.

First indoor 240 since Holm in Madrid 2005?

SVT, covering news of this jump, has a graphic on 2.40m clearances... should be the first indoor/outdoor one since Holm's clearance.

Should help Rybakov get over that nasty little 2.38m hump as well.

Yes, and only the second since 1994.

There is some evidence that some indoor venues are more conducive to HJing than outdoors. Same is true for PVing. Less so for all the other events - tho SPing is certainly a wash.
