Colorado's Jenny Barringer is quietly putting together arguably the best indoor season for an NCAA woman's distance runner ever. She just went 4:25.91 (mile) at the Big XII meet in a nice duel with Sally Kipyego (4:27.19 - also under the record). Men's mile (including German F) now on the track.

The kid is phenomenal - and he is only 18 year and 4 mos?
Worlds should be very interesting....I just hope he stays healthy and injury free!

Tony Waldrop holds the indoor collegiate record with a hand-timed 3:55.0 back in 1974 (Jack-in-the-Box). Fernandez' time is intrinsically superior, but I'm wondering if it'll ever be submitted for record consideration and likely would be denied. Don Paige ran a faster 3:54.22 on an oversized (somehow 317y flashes into my memory) Astrodome track in 1980.
It's also the fastest time ever-run in an all-collegiate indoor race (Kevin Sullivan 3:55.33 @ 1995 NCAA) and a World Junior (indoor) record, breaking his own 3:56.50. 4th fastest U.S. Jr. race indoors/outdoors, trailing 2 Ryun races from 1966 and Webb's HSR.

The injury thing is a bit of a concern, but it must not be much to perform like that.
Epelle- care to change your World's prediction? Top ten, or better, seems like a pretty safe bet now.
