          No, Washington's 307m beauty.

          gh just showing his usual disdain for the oversize tracks, though fine with downhill 200 and 400 on a "legal" size banked track.

            Why would they build a 307 meter track?... Why not rather 300m?.. .. makes more sense. Allows the meet to contend the 300 and 600m dashes in a way that is easy to comprehend.
            ... nothing really ever changes my friend, new lines for old, new lines for old.

              Has nothing to do with track concerns - that just happened to be the size that went around the full-size football field in the middle.

              Same with every +/- 300m indoor track in the country.

                The plans for a new indoor track at Wisconsin are for a banked 200m oval with additional lanes outside it. I am not sure, but the banking might be taken down (i.e., the track can make a flat surface). I think a major reason is to provide a gentler curve for practice, as UW has a long indoor period with more cause to be indoors in the winter. Unfortunately, the timing on this is pretty far off and planning is complicated because the current facility (The Shell) is owned by recreation sports and on the athletic department.
