Without a decent plant a javelin thrower is nothing.

You mean first ever as a specialist? I was looking through google and saw he had a lot of southern mens league results in the 40's from 2002 - 2005. What was his main event before javelin? Discus?

He is still a relative unknown. He only took up javelin throwing in 2005 at the age of 21. He threw 53.26m in his first ever competition and by the end of that year he improved to 69.68m, having won all of his JT comps that year. He improved to 72.37m in 2006, then 75.68m in 2007 (the year in which he won his first UK senior champs medal - bronze). He didn't improve on his PB last year (best of 74.98m), but he scooped the silver medal at the UK Champs.

He has wintered well and so far has twice thrown over 80m and finished third at the European Cup Winter Throwing.

He backed it up with a 80.06m at the Buckinghamshire County Champs last weekend.

Britain's Mervyn Luckwell made a massive improvement in the javelin yesterday. He improved his PB from 75.68m to 81.05m.
