Euro Indoor m3000: A not unexpected victory for Farah

well, that is for = strong 5k/10k guys ( geb, kennster, & perhaps going back a bit: henry rono & ron clarke )

mo is primarily a 3k/5k guy, with best distance unfortunately looking to be 3k

10k is far from being his best distance & i woudn't seriously use his pb for any meaningful analysis

1'48/7'32 -> ~ 3'33.7 , 13'03.7 , 27'29.4 ( if that helps in any way )

Farah's outdoor 3.000m will drop considerably in a non-interrupted outdoor 2009 season. He may not opt for any 1.500m/mile races. He has the capability of running faster than 8.20 for 2-miles, and will need to if he's looking at sub-13.00 for 5.000m (4.10-8.20-13.30-kick in metres). How much faster is up for grabs, as the 3.000m is a beast of a race to run at 60-flat pace average (2.26-2.27-2.28 closer).

Also happy for Mo because his last Euro Indoor 3000 was a tactical disaster, running all over the place, accelerating and decelerating. This year: perfect!

even though he's been concentrating on longer distances since then, i'd have to think he shoud be currently capable of 1'47 - 1'48

Yes, Brit teamwork was great. Draper was perfect, every lap 30.5ish--and Mo was then set up to continue clicking off those 30.5s. Very wise tactic, given 3 hard-kicking Spaniards in the race. Actually very exciting: Tahri looked so relaxed, and it so hard to lead so long from early on in the race. Also great to see the 3 Brits justly taking the victory lap together.

Have to admit was getting very worried about Tahri near the end there, a couple of years ago Farah would have got the silver in that sort of race.

Actually good to see GB employing some tactics that other nations use as well with Draper acting as a rabbit.

So was I. After about 8-10 laps, I thought Farah had got it wrong and I was still worried in the final 400m because Tahri managed to stay in contact but I'm chuffed to bits for Mo
