In case anyone hasn't noticed, this is quite a good meet for the German women: 1-2 SP, 2-3 PV, by far the fastest time in 60m semi.
On the other hand, German men...
Spank was a bit disappointing in the high jump final today - I expected a medal from him and Schlangen's tactics in the 1500m heats were questionable. It's not a strong field and it wasn't really necessary to stretch it.
However, they did get a one-two in the qualies but Winter isn't the most consistent athlete on the planet and I don't know much about Beyer.
Male pole vaulters - well I'm surprised Ecker didn't go through with his experience.

It's a definite improvement from last year (and before), one reason is that the atmosphere and culture has changed a little bit. The approach of the DLV is different this time, optimistic thinking instead of low expectations.
This is also the youngest team in years, a changing of the guard is under way.

Running from the front (in the NC) got him to the EC in the first place, so perhaps he thought it would also get him into the final.
Our other 1500m runner, Wolfram Müller, finally seems to be over his constant injury problems. It would be nice to see him realize the potential he showed as a junior (Thomas Wessinghage's 1500m record goes into its 19th year)
