Out of Olympic 1500m medalists, probably. But Gebrselassie was 1999 World Indoor 1500m champion. And ran 2:06 with a bum calf the last 3k.

    Lets wish Webb luck tonight.
There is no point is bashing the guy any longer.
If he give a 100% effort he deserves praise.
My new year's resolution on this and other forums is to stop posting negative Alan Webb meesages.
Besides Webb has done well in cross country this year.

All that matters is the mile.

Surely you mean Snell IS first, as his 3OG golds, in 2 OG's, and 2 WR's in the mile, a WR and 2nd fastest ever in the 800, surpass Walker's accomplishments, even as good as they were.

John Walker maybe the most dominant athlete ever from New Zealand.

<<1975 started off with an excellent win in the 1500m and a second to Filbert Bayi over 800m at the New Zealand Games in Christchurch, resulting in his selection as Athlete of the Games. A month later, Walker finished fourth in the World Cross Country Championships, the New Zealand team winning the teams title.

During the 1975 European campaign, Walker was clearly at his best. He ran his lifetime best 1500m, 3m 32.4s, a very fast 2000m of 4m 56.8s, less than a second off the World record, and smashed through the 3m 50s barrier for the mile recording a World record of 3m 49.4s in Gothenburg. It was a season of exceptional running, well recorded in Ivan Agnew's book "Kiwis Can Fly". >>

I think Walker finished pretty high up in '75.

He ran pretty fast on the track that year.

    Good Question.

Who has historic World XC results that might be able to look this up for us? (hint, hint, challenge!)
