Gabriela Mihalcea was a pretty good HJ/PV doubler: 1.96 and 4.25

And Tunde Vaszi was a combined PV/LJer with PBs of 4.40 and 6.86

          Re: Best women's combination jumpers

Just thought I'd bump this thread (and alter the subject line slightly) in light of Chaunte Lowe's 6.61m/2.00m double in Kingston. Is this the best one-day HJ/LJ double ever by a woman? Some of the best heptathletes wouldn't necessarily have a good HJ/LJ double on record as those events are on separate days in a heptathlon. Hellebaut did 1.99m/6.41m indoors on the same day when she won the pentathlon at the 2008 WIC, but both of those marks are inferior to Howard's. Anyone know of any more?

I wonder if (and hope) Howard will focus a bit more on the LJ in future.

Not on the same day and, obviously, inferior marks, but Chudina medalled in both in '52 Helsinki (in addition to JT).

Didn't know she even was a long jumper until today.

And a relatively decent one at that.

She jumped 20-6½ (6.26) as an 18-year-old high schooler 8 years ago.

Watching her attempts at 2.02 she seems pretty fast. wonder what her shot and Javelin are like.
See where I'm going with this (OT of course)

If I'm not mistaken, she was a decent sprinter in college as well. If I remember correctly, she used to sprint, hurdle and jump at he ACC champs to get points.

Chaunte scored big-time @ the 2005 ACC Indoor Champs by winning the HJ (6'2-3/4"), finishing 7th in the long jump (19'6-3/4"), and 6th in the triple jump (41'4-1/2").
