Even thought I'm not wild about some of the specifics of the facility itself, one of the good things about Washington's indoor track is that it has made indoor a viable option for many on the West Coast who formerly either sat the season out or just gave it passing notice. IMO, if the NCAA were allow individuals whose schools don't compete in the sport into the national championship, it would degrade the idea of the meet.

confirming the sadness of the whole thing; the week before the nationals he's up and running in an MSU uniform yet can't run at the Nationals.

Cherry opened his outdoor season Mar. 6 at UNF, Jacksonville, FL with 10.40 prelim, dnr final.

Athlete most conspicuous by his absence: Mississippi State frosh D'Angelo Cherry, 2nd at USATF in an American Junior Record 6.52.
Unfortunately, even though he's on the MSU roster, he can't compete here because the school dropped indoor track as a sport. You'd think the NCAA would have some kind of provision that would allow clearly eligible people to compete as "individuals." But I guess that would be viewed as screwing up Title IX interpretations. :-(
