How fast will Willard and Barringer run in steeple in 2009?
It will be run off of no speed work. However, the steeple requires a lot of accelerations and she might have a bit more for this stage than a standard distance runner at this point in the season. However, since she will likely not be challenged until USATF in anything that 'matters', she may delay systematic (rather than incidental) fast/hard stuff until June after NCAAs (although I do not know the USATF schedule).
Somewhere between 2:01 and 2:03 I should imagine if it's paced probably.
I'm really hoping Barringer can come over to Europe later in the season - she sounds like someone who's got the potential to get in the mix with the top women.
Lest one forget Oslo last season (9.14,77 for Galkina). There was also Barcelona and Rieti with in-season competition faster than Barringer's eventual best.
I agree. That is why I hope that she wins St./1500 at NCAA, then qualifies for WCh in 1500/St. at USAT&F. That should generate some invites in 1500/3000 "on the big-time Euro Circuit."
