  • Incredible depth in the Paris Marathon

About 20 athletes were still in contention through 30km in 1:29:24 and these were the unofficial results.

    1 - Vincent Kipruto 2:05:43
    2 - Worku 2:06:11
    3 - Kiyeng 2:06:22

Adhane, Kisri and Mandago all sub 2:07 too and two more under 2:08.

I might need someone to confirm but I think they were record times for athletes placing in 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th.

Those East African nations are yanking the event out of everyone else's capability. I like it! All the more reason why it's so silly to limit a nation to 3 athletes at the Big Games!

I think the IOC will eventually change that rule (three athletes per event). It probably won't be very soon though. The no false start rule will come first.

The IOC has nothing to do with the false start rule. That's up to the IAAF.

At the world championships, the competitor limit per country in the marathon is five.
