  • Tergat v Fagan: Great Ireland Run 10k.

    Paul Tergat, recent winner of the Lake Biwa Marathon, is challenging recent Irish Half Marathon record holder Martin Fagan (60:57 in Rotterdam) in the Great Ireland run in Phoenix park, Dublin, today.

    The men's field also includes Brazil's Gladson Silva Barbosa, Andrew Carlson of the USA, Pablo Villalobos from Spain, Argentinia's Javier Carriqueo and 1500m Olympian Tom Lancashire stepping up in distance.

    The women's field sees former New York Marathon winner Jelena Prokopcuka, winner of the recent Paris half marathon, Fernanda Ribeiro, the former Olympic 10000m gold medallist, Ana Dulce Felix (13th at the recent World xc) and Kenya's Sally Barsosio tackle European Indoor bronze medallist Mary Cullen.

    Former winners of this event are Meselech Melkamu and Craig Mottram.

    Ana Dulce Felix takes the Women's race in just over 32 minutes. Cullen takes second, with Prokopcupa third and Barsosio fourth.

    Men's field whittled down to Fagan, Tergat, Rui Silva of Portugal and American Carlson.
