Mt. Sac. Relays will be run in the mid to upper 80's on Friday and Saturday.

Having watched this stuff for more decades than I'd care to admit my guess is the first 20+ seconds in improvement was due to coming down to sea level.

But the last 15 - 20 seconds? I'd say that young man has a lot more ability than he knows.

He can probably knock a few more seconds off of that PR.

Just gotta get into the right race.
Probably all true. Also, last spring and this one here in Colorado have been cruel to athletes. Plenty of meets with high winds or cold with snow flurries or even canceled meets. I suspect a lot of kids came up short of their potential PRs. State is the weekend of May 15th, pretty early for the spring weather here. I think he a decent amount of room for more improvement, this spring and in college.

And then, there's the guys that clock 8:40something at Arcadia......

Well, yes, but not for my son's school team. They have a couple big guns, but one is injured (300H) and the other (the 8/16/32) is sticking to the relays. However, you can look for that kid to run about 1:53, and a couple sub 4:15s (maybe close to 4:10) in his legs this weekend. He has clocked 8:59 already in a solo effort closing with a 59/4:25 following a 4:15 with a 57 closer. Obviously he is in pretty good shape!

Yes, DH is very strong. They are rivals to my son's school. Both schools have strong programs however, I think Dana is a little too strong this year.

SMR - Friday, and DMR - Saturday. They are missing a key kid, but still should do pretty well on Saturday. It is always a fun, well organized event with a lot of energy.
