Yeah, Coach Candaele has built a very healthy, dynamic culture of support in both track and football at Vista Murietta. Kids are eager to participate and celebrate each other's performances. Ross's reactions seems to be pretty emotional!!!

Ya gotta love the reaction from teammates and fans - total pandemonium! I thought they were going to crush him under the dogpile.
That made me smile. Track can be such a happy thing. Yay!

His 7'3" jump was the best in the country until this past weekend. James White, who is a hs junior, cleared 7'3.25" this past weekend in the KS Relays high school division. Oddly enough, he jumped higher than anyone in the Open division, including Jim Dilling.

Thats very good form, confidence and ease. he seems a natural.

There are more out there who need to be convinced that they have no shot at pro-basketball and should give track a shot.

Heck there are many O-linemen who should be steered towards the hammer.

Coyley Candel? The spelling is way off, but I'm pretty sure the name is right.

Name that coach!!!! (Epelle is disqualified, too easy for him)

Ross's head coach at Vista Murrieta had high school PRs of 1:50.87 and 4:06.26. and was California State meet mile champion. Vista Murrieta hosts a lot of meets because they have @ 400 track team members and transporting them to away meets is problematic.

Same coach also quarterbacked his high school team to 3 consecutive CIF championships and he returned to coach his old high school to an undefeated season (clobbering football powerhouse Oaks Christian along the way) with a roster of only 25 players. Then he moved on to open Vista Murrieta High. Since 2006 (first year with seniors on the football team) he has had 11-1, 11-1, and 9-3 records.

His uncle was a long-time MLB infielder, his wife ran in the OT's 1500m, and his grandmother inspired the movie "A League of Their Own". Has a couple of very young daughters... they run!

started a topic Point guard would rather jump

    Point guard would rather jump

Possibly another jumper won over from basketball. This guy has a killer work ethic and could make high school headlines this summer.
