and yes, the move-to-800 quesiton got asked!

<<T&FN: Do you see all the message board posts where people speculate you'd dominate if you ever tried the 800?

Wariner: I don't get on message boards anymore. I used to always get on them. Like when I was in college and my first two years of running professional I used to always get on there--on Track & Field News and Trackshark. And I just stopped doing it.

T&FN: Do you think it's better for your concentration not to read that stuff?

Wariner: Yeah. Some things would get me. I'd say, 'Yeah, well... whatever." Especially on Trackshark because a lot of them are college kids and they talk about whoever they like. They don't bring a lot of facts. Track & Field News is more of a factual website. But [checking message boards] was fun while it lasted for me....>>

I don't think he ever actually posted here. Think on Shark he may have used his nickname: "Pooh" or something like that.

I did read his posts back in the day. They were worth reading and he had a good sense of humor.

some kid named Latoy(??) Williams ran 45.01 at the same meet to win the 400m from all the Baylor big guns.
Never ever heard of this guy before....

A season's improvement from his 20,77 opener, which was followed by a 20,85 three weeks ago.

Wariner is not improving his speed (yet), if these times (as well as those from the past two years) are to be any indication. Is he stronger, then, and, if so, will that strength be enough to continue pressuring Merritt at the top?

I know this is off-topic, but if the time is correct, this no-name freshman is now the WL in the 400m. I think his previous best was in the 47s.

Hey, this is Baylor. Ya gotta score 1200 on the SAT and run 47 flat just to matriculate. 8-)

Williams is a South Plains JC soph, not a frosh; ran 46.37(A) in El Paso a couple of weeks ago.

                              Low-alt best 46.70 last year.

                              Bahamian.
