  • Carmelita Jeter - 10.96 (0.9) at Mt. Sac

Haven't seen the race myself yet. Just heard about it. Supposedly 2nd place was 11.30

I'm thinking there's a slight changing of the guard. Might be the year that Lauryn and Torri don't make the 100m team.

I agree. Jeter seemed to put too much effort into improving her 200 performance. She was quoted as saying that her coach didn't allow her to taper before indoor meets. I think that if she had run 60 at World Indoor Ch, her 100 performance would have been close to 10.80 in 2008 IMHO.

World lead by a lot. Unless someone else ran fast this week, it's the first sub-11 of the year for anybody.

Jeter is a definite comer, and perhaps this is her year to arrive.

Are there any results from today available? The site on the home page seems not to have updated any event for today. From Jeter's mark, I guess I should have made the 2 hour drive. The Thurs/Fri results weren't much good, so as I wasn't feeling too wonderful today (day twelve of cold turkey after 48 years of a pack a day) and I still have the shakes a bit, I passed. I'll try to make Chula Vista on Thursday. Someone usually throws something fairly far there.

Puts her in good Mt. Sac company: non-windy Mt. Sac record is a 10,92 (+1,0 m/s) by Merlene Ottey from 24 years back. Jeter ties Gail Devers, who also ran a 10,95 (+1,2 m/s), but is faster on wind conditions. There have now only been seven legal sub-11,00 times recorded in the month of april. Jeter's time, according to JRM's calcuator, appears to only be 0,01 seconds off the Ottey mark.

Just found the answer on the homepage, she is working with Smith. Great mid race from her. Interesting to see how her year progreses.

Results page now says it was 10.96. (I too had originally gotten a text saying 10.95; perhaps that was an eyebeam time?)
