Here is why: Llewellyn Herbert's PR is only .02 faster (47.81), and he ran that in Sydney in 2000. Bershawn Jackson's PR is 47.30.

Danny Harris was only slightly faster. As I said, you are hard to please
Actually quite impressive how many fast times Jackson has in early season (04, 06 and 08). I was surprised to see Rawlinson's time there too!

By the way, that 48.05 low-altitude performance in Melbourne by Louis van Zyl is his best ever. Imagine if Bershawn was in that race. He probably would have broken 48.00 in March, even if March is summer for Australia and South Africa.

I figured 48.32 in April to be slow because I remembered those 48.4x performances of Bronson in February, 1998. And that was before he got dirty. If 48.4 was possible in February, then 48.1 in April should be a cinch. Theoretically.
There was a time, not too long ago (maybe 25 years max.), when fast times were common in April. When was the last WR set in April?

What a load of baloney from Cooky montza.!!
The SA and other southern hemisphere performances by Matete in Feb , March are irelevant to the point made by Daisy , referring to the outstanding nature of Jackson's 48.32. The third best after Danny Harris and Jackson himself. Great stuff.!!!
The other irrelevance is to compare what an athlete did at the height of his season, 47.30. with the start of the season in another year, and what the difference between those performances is. Who cares when assessing an April performance. Not me.

Cooky montza now starts digging a big hole and may consider jumping therein.
48.30 for a 400m hurdles is slow in April he says. Bo***cks
As for the stuff about a 400m in 45.2 being worthy of being ripped to shreds. That's an excellent performance for any athlete. when he is required to be running maybe 1.5 to 2 secs faster three and a half months later.

You didn't see my re-evaluation above, after having looked at Moses' best April performance and the fact that Kevin Young never broke 48.50 in April. My opinion was based on one thing: Bryan Bronson's two performances of 48.4x in February, 1998. No doubt he was probably in perfect shape (before he started going to the dark side), but in February?? Even if it were in Australia, I was more impressed by that than the April performance, and Bronson was probably in top shape for indoors when he ran those 48.4x races.
And Daisy is right; I am hard to please. Maybe it's because I feel more strongly than most do that we're slacking off in the U.S. So, forgive me if my expectations are just a bit higher, even this early. But as far as this topic is concerned, if I've seen a performance like 48.4x in February, naturally I would expect just a little faster in April. Like I said before, 48.1x would really impress me this month. Or did you not read that part?
Now, 10.96 by Jeter in April is really scorching the early spring.
