  • Another AJR for Natalie Willer

Nebraska soph (yes, soph, but still a Junior) set AJR of 14-3¼ (4.35) at Arkansas last week; now 14-3½ (4.36) at Drake today. Short story now on front page.

From Drake: Willer had quite a tailwind on her vault(s). Aiding winds were gusting up to 5+ mps during the event. And all running events finished into strong homestretch winds; some impressive running, indeed.

        From SI:

The wind, which gusted up to 30 mph, helped Nebraska sophomore Natalie Willer break the meet record in the university-college pole vault. Willer set an outdoor collegiate best for this year with a winning jump of 14 feet, 3 1/2 inches, shattering the mark of 13-5 3/4 set by Missouri's Jennifer Bennett in 2003.

Willer beat out favorite Kylie Hutson of Indiana State, the NCAA indoor champion.

"We had a great wind today. We always had a tailwind while we were jumping," Willer said.

I was surprised that the AJR is only 14-3.
