  • Penn Relays: 39,91 by Calabar (JAM) 4x100m

Asafa Powell has a brother named Ricardo. Is this the same Ricardo on third leg of this super-fast high school relay team?

Looks like Ricardo's the only Powell brother without a cover!

I don't think he is Asafa brother. Haven't hear any relationship to Asafa Powell. He used to attend Bridgport High, then transfer to Calabar high. If he his Asafa little brother, it's cool to see him carrying on the family tradition.
This same team ran 39.90 at the Jamaica Boys and Girls championship a couple weeks ago.

To the best of my knowledge, Asafa is the youngest of the six brothers, two of which are now deceased.

Calabar has run very well this season -- a 40,05 a few weeks back as well in addition to that 39,90 listed above.

C-BAR also ran 39:95 less than a month before champs at the Gibson Relays. Ricardo Powell usually anchor, but I guess becausee of the turn to run at Penn Relays on the anchor leg, plus Oshane Bailey's experience running anchor leg at Penn...Oshane was given the honors. My younger brother attended Calabar for two years before we came to USA, so its good to see his former school is tearing up the track.

The Champs atmosphere was electrifying and still is!!

There is a possibility. Isn't Asafa family from St. Catherine? Ricardo Powell was a student at Bridgeport High which is located in St. Catherine before he transfer to Calabar. Not to say , because he goes to Bridgeport High, he is from St. Catherine.

The sprint gene is strong in the Powell family, so from Donovan Powell to Asafa Powell. Possible Ricardo Powell, the sprint tradition seem to be continuing if he is infact related to them. 8-)

Powell is a pretty common name in Ja. Esp in St. Elizabeth. They could be related but most likely not.
why don't people pronounce vowels anymore
