I'm reminded of the old Kingston Trio song, Super Skiier:

"He was comin' down the hill, doin' 90 miles an hour
        When he caught the edge of a ski;
        Oh! his clothes were fast
        But the slopes were faster,
And that's the last of super skiier we shall see"

I certainly hope that's not the end of Usain Bolt. But having been in minor auto accidents, I would guess that even if nothing is broken, he's going to have aches and pains for a little while, at least. I wouldn't be surprised if this throws off his training and competition plans for weeks or even months.

Neither Greene nor Kennedy were the same since.

I wonder who was the woman in the car with him. I hope it's is his long time girlfriend. I can imagine who that M3 sound, because test drive a 330 a month ago, and that darn car sound more like a sports car and a regular sedan, so I can imagine how that M3 engine sound. Also, was in a incident and end up in small ditch 2yrs ago. My whole life flash in front a mi face , so I wonder if Usain going throw same thing. He could possible have a little pinch nerve, from head sherking because of the ditch.

Doubt he will be competing on Saturday, if he has that, because it was a couple days afterwards, my head movements was very limited. Give thanks he ok.

                    From the Jamaica Observer:

Sprint star Usain Bolt hospitalised in car accident

                    Kayon Raynor, Senior Observer Reporter

                    Posted: 4/29/2009 3:44:51 PM

WORLD 100 and 200 metre record holder Usain Bolt has been admitted into hospital, reportedly in good condition, following a car accident along the Vineyard Toll section of Highway 2000 today at about 1:30 pm.

Security at the Spanish Town Hospital told the Observer that Bolt was in good condition. However medical staff have provided no further comment.

Bolt's masseur said that the athlete's only injury was a thorn in his foot.

Bolt's car had been travelling into Kingston from Clarendon the accident occurred. The road was slippery from afternoon showers.

When this reporter arrived upon the scene at approximately 2:30 pm the BMW car was being towed from the ditch.

Examination of the car by this reporter revealed no blood inside the car and no airbags had been visibly deployed. Both front tyres were punctured and the left-front wheel was almost torn off. The front windscreen was shattered while the back windscreen was totally removed.

A member of a Highway 2000 wrecker crew said that there were tyre marks for about 50 metres before the car came off the road.

                      A thorn in his foot?

Is that some kind of local jamaican slang for some type of foot injury, or did they literally mean a thorn in his foot?

I can't even figure out how he would get a thorn in his foot...

I mean, unless he took his shoes off, and got out of the car, and stepped on a thorn, but that doesn't make much sense...

If he was inside the car when it crashed, how would a thorn even physically get into contact with his foot???

                      I'm confused!

The news mention is when he step outside the car. Also, now they saying it's scratch by tree branches. So, maybe he was wearing shorts and might get scratch. We should know more later.

Thorn in the foot? Maybe Matt is right cause this sounds real fishy. A guy crashes a car at a high rate of speed and

                          Broken bones-nope
                          Cuts- nope
                          Thorns- OH YEAH
                          phsstt!

You don't get hospitalized for a "thorn in the foot". There must be more. I wish him well.

Perhaps next time he'll ask for a Rolex and instead drive a Volvo. Wish him all the best.
