  • Derrick 13:29.98 AJR

Fantastic race! Derrick looked incredibly strong in the last 600. Fernandez also under Rupp's old mark at 13:31.78.

    Wow.

Finally, better than Lindgren's 13:04 3 mile on the composite list.

Too bad Derrick is not running a 10,000 as a junior.

Also, Jager (2008 USATF Junior Champion in the 1500) and Derrick were IL HSers.

Winner Mead is only a sophomore.

Ian Dobson miscounted the laps in the A race. What a bummer. Cragg held off Teg for the win, 13:22.36 to 13:22.60.

Good opener for Teg after a knee injury over the winter.

Great race - any of the top three could have won. When the racing began Fernandez never looked like he was in it.

3:36 by Centrowitz is not too shabby either. That will alter the formchart.

BTW, Centrowitz, Jager and Mead are still teenagers.

Speaking of teenagers, Monica Joyce ran 17:13.42 as a 50 yo tonight.

Looks like about 8.36-8.37 closer for the lead group; 8.38ish for Fernandez - following 1.800m of racing. Fernandez stated after his race (on Flotrack) that he can't hold all the American Junior records. I think he's understood that he won't win all of his races, either. A terrific run, nevertheless, for his first race outdoors. Even better result for Derrick, who was gunning to beat Fernandez.

Is Mead a naturalized US Citizen? I had thought he was Somalian. Just read the newest eTN today and noticed there wasn't a tick mark by his name.
