Coe at Stanford / 5000 Why did he drop out?

He'd been running well all season.
Kept looking over his right shoulder during the race.
That struck me as odd having seen him race a few times before.
Seems now like he was looking for an opening to step out.
Thought he'd be around 13:30 based in his 3000 / 1500 times.
And with his ferocious kick, 2.01 last half mile, 4.07 winning time when he ran the Boston Reebok indoor mile a few years back, he may have won that race.

Is he injured? Sick?

Anyone know?

I watched the race video and will have to watch it again because Coe was up front and from what I saw all the tripping happened behind him.

I must have missed it?

Anyone else have any other info?

"There was a pile-up, and one of the runners from Oklahoma State fell on (Coe's) ankle and sprained it," Sandoval said. "It was on about the third or fourth lap. Michael continued to run, thinking it might loosen up a little bit, but after it got more and more painful, he dropped out right after two miles."
