Olympics was the only competition last year that had 3 women over 6.90.

            Fantastic competition.

I don't feel quite right implying that a lady who's jumped 6.99m has an imperfect technique, but I'm scared to think how far she'd go with a bit of refinement. But as long as she's dropping those distances....

As for Jimoh....what the hell! She must have had one hell of an off season, because she was competing practically every other day indoors, and in some meets could barely scrape over 6.30m/6.40m. The wLJ is going to be fierce this year if the Americans can sustain these distances to challenge the Brazilians, Russians, Gomes and company. The American trials will be a bloodbath for those three spots!

I have not seen her jump, but you are probably right about the technique. Perhaps she should be jumping 24. Who was the triple jumper who landed almost bolt upright in the pit but jumped about 57-9 for the 1992 silver medal?
Had to look it up--Charles Simpkins.
Of course, the ideal technique is not the same for all jumpers, although there are certain things which can only be negative factors.

                Now that's truly exciting.
Would love to see some big 7 plus jumps from her.

I've always wondered about that Kotova mark but I didn't see the jump so I've no particular reason to doubt it as Annecy is as good a venue as any. I plead ignorance on this assumption!

Hmmm, going by this list, if you want to jump big then it obviously helps if you're Russian and called Tatyana!
