  • Bradstock qualifies for 2009 nationals at age 47

Roald Bradstock beat his own American age-group record in the javelin yesterday, throwing 237-10 at age 47.

He's now eligible to compete at Eugene nationals in late June.

      I appreciate the sentiment!

I posted here becuz most of the time, when I write about geezertrack, gh moves my post to this forum, rather than leave it in Current Events.

I was just saving gh the trouble.

That's about 72.50 m? What is the qualifying distance?

OK Just read your blog. So it was a 72.49 m. Don't want to be too pedantic but isn't 237-10 further than 72.49? At least I assume this was measured in metric?

At the trials last year, Roald was a hoot, with the over the top clothing. He didn't qualify for the finals, but didn't throw badly for an old fart. We (wife & I) were trying to figure out when we first saw him throw. Obviously, he was on the UK team at the '84 OG. But he may have been on the UK team for the ECup in Zagreb in '81. I never got around to digging that out. It was before Backley, but Roald may have been pretty young then. At any rate, more power to him
