  • 100, 150, 300 and hurdles at Basel meet

The day before some tall Jamaican ran 150 meters down the middle of a street somewhere, hundreds of sprinters and hurdlers of all ages competed in a Sprints/Hurdles meet in Basel, Switzerland:

They also ran the 200-meter hurdles!

W50 Christine Müller of Switzerland set a world age-group record of 12.18 in the 80-meter hurdles, lowering her own WR of 12.23 from last year.

Christine was IAAF Masters Female Athlete of the Year in 2008:

That crazy event gets run a few times a year down in Australia (or more accurately up in Queensland).

Sally McLellan ran 26.96 over them this year (an Aussie - Pam Ryan is reportedly still the WR-holder with her 25.7 from Nov 1971).

See the all time Men's list (http://www.alltime-athletics.com/m_200hok.htm) for a rnage of performances from Darren Wolhslen (who had a 20.43A PR in 2000).

    But WR holder is Ottoz...

I ran it once in high school (around a curve). I thought it was a lot of fun; hurdles that a stubby guy could actually clear with decent technique!

The 220H (straight) was the event I ran as a HS junior (1968), but then they switched to 180H (still straight). Here's my question: I ran 20.2 in the 180H and the school record was 25.3. I was given a tentative SR, but contend I would have easily broken the old record - I figure 24.8ish. Am I right??!! My SR was never broken because they subsequently switched to 300H, so I was rendered obsolete.

When is the last time someone contested the one-day ten event all-around?
