Overlooked national record

Bailey took the JC National 100 title Saturday over Alonzo Edward 10.07 to 10.09 with a head wind of 1.3 - results are a typo as I have spoken with athletes, coaches and spectators in attendance that confirm it was a head wind. Every sprint held yesterday at the meet had a head wind.

Bailey came out extremely tenative in the 200 with his leg feeling tight prior to the race and then came back on Edward at the end but had let him get too far in front of him. Edward ran a legal 20.34 with Bailey at 20.47.

Had the same reaction--was introduced to Bailey at the meet by his coach, John Parks. Impressive young man. Had forgotten about him until I saw this thread.

Well guess what in the 200 trials today he ran the fastest qualifier in 20.45 with yes a 1.9 wind!

In the JC Nationals today Bailey lowered his national record to 10.05 with a terrible start and slowing at finish and another 1.9 wind.

If this kid has figured a way always to have a 1.9 wind, he's really onto something.

In the JC Nationals today Bailey lowered his national record to 10.05 with a terrible start and slowing at finish and another 1.9 wind. Defending champ Taylor of Hinds CC ran 10.28 in trials while Alonzo Edward ran 10.29 windy.
His relay team ran 39.38 to lead the qualifying.

His 10.06 is even more impressive with his margin of victory taken into consideration. Anyone keep a record of 100 meter margins of victory?

He had run 10.10 with a 4.0 wind at the Sea-Ray Relays but if you watch the video from youtube of him you can see he stumbles badly coming out of the blocks.

Thats a nice effort from this kid, seems to be quite the physical specimen as well!

This is my first time hearing about this. 10.06 is serious!

Just noticed that Ryan Bailey's recent 10.06 (1.9 wind) broke the national Junior College record held jointly at 10.09 by Henry Neal (Blinn '92) and Gerald Williams (Mt SAC '99). His race was run on May 8th in Ina, Illinois at the JuCo Region 24 meet while representing Rend Lake CC.

This weekend he faces off with Panamanian sensation Alonzo Edwards of Barton CC who ran a wind-aided 9.97.
