  • LA Coliseum for sale?

Interesting headline on Yahoo News suggesting sale of the publicly-owned stadium (that hosted athletics for Olympic Games) because of California state financial shortfall.

Does any T&FN forum participant know of a consortium that could buy that stadium and restore its track and field facilities for a future World Championships?

      L.A. Coliseum story update

This story is far from over. Update at: http://www.wavenewspapers.com/news/45622512.html

Interesting note: Stadium is not USC property; school just rents it via long-term lease.

Background (not in current story): To host 1932 Olympic Games, stadium construction via state money was approved by a vote of California citizens. Cost, back then, was one million dollars.

Adjusted for inflation, that's about $14 million. Still pretty cheap.
