i thought only the top 3 finisher from league could advance to CIF? has that been changed to top 4?

Rules have changed to allow superb section marks to advance to state according to San Jose Mercury News. I suppose that similar changes were made at lower levels.

My first year of coaching in the California Southern Section was 1968. Only TWO athletes advanced from each league then.

That looks good enough for about 8:49, but, not one is a senior. They're all coming back and should seriously challenge the 8:43 NR next season.
