  • No Allen Johnson in Eugene

first nationals without him since '91 (ran the 200 only in '98).

    e-mail he sent us:

<<I will not be at the national championships this year because of setbacks
with my ankle. I'm not sure when I will able to compete again. More than
    likely next year.>>

Terrible news; one of my all-time faves as a person.

He's one of my favorite athletes, also. I've met him several times and he is always gracious and friendly. I hope he never quits the hurdles. Of course that would be rather difficult, but you know what I mean.

            love the man.

Allen Johnson is one of the all-time greats in track.

How many World and U.S. titles has he won?

Not that he is one of my all-time favorite athletes or anything ( ), but

              1 Oly title
              4 World titles
              5 USA titles
              no NCAA titles

He went largely unnoticed with 13.67w for (non-advancing) 3rd in his heat, but he did show up in Eugene after all.
