  • Wanjiru withdraws from Berlin

The world championships that is. He will be competing in the normal edition a month later instead, which he claimed was his aim anyway: http://www.leichtathletik.de/index.php? ... wsID=22422

He said he will be targeting a 2:03:30 time, when he faces the current record holder Haile Gebrselassie of Ethiopia, who is also lined up for the event.

For me, top 5 most anticipated races of my life. I assumed when i read he was running worlds that the show down of the best marathoners in history was off! Thank you track God's!

He should run the 10k in the Kenyan trials, then.

I have now seen a quote from his manager that he is not running the Berlin Marathon either, rather one of the other big fall ones.
