Strange last 50 metres by Okoro. Meadows strong in the final straight.

I wouldn't have said so...she is normally strong at the end but she just didn't have it in her in her first race of the season...still, she's opened with 2:00.xx...not a bad start if you ask me! She'll be happy with the time I reckon

She says on Facebook that she's really pleased as it's her fastest season opener ever but I doubt she's pleased that Jenny beat her.

And that a 5k specialist beat her.

Who? Jamal has run only 1500 at all her globals.

(BTW - would have loved her in the 1500 today - and not because Krevsun might have won!)

And that's the sixth time Jamal has gone under 2.00,00 in her career.

I know, I was just exaggerating a bit. Jamal is a 1500 specialist really, but one who is world-class in the longer distances too. It'd be nice to think that most of the world-class 800m specialists would be able to beat Jamal when she steps down to the 800m, but I guess it says just as much about Jamal's impressive range (the only woman to have broken 2min, 4min, 8:30 and 15min) as it does about the ability of the two-lap specialists.

Well, I guess she's less unhappy about a '5k specialist' beating her in her season-opener than Sinclair must be about a steepler beating her when she's already run a 1:57 relay leg this year...
