It may be Hooker's scalp he is going for, but Lukyanenko has dropped out of the meet due to an unspecified injury.

Usually when elites NH, it has more to do with things being off (running through/bailing/wrong pole) than the bar being too high.
In other words, I would be willing to bet that in most of the meets he has NH'd, he would have NH'd no matter what height the bar was at.
While you are right 90% of the time in that assumption, I doubt that's what's happening with Skipper. I think it's one of two things:

    a. he simply has an issue with opening at a reasonable height. What have been the hts of his nh's?
    or
    b. he has developed a bad case of meetitis, where he gets too nervous to execute what comes easy in practice.

Both are common at the HS level (a. for boys, and b. for girls), but I haven't seen anything like this at the elite level.
I am guessing it is "B". Since HS, he has often had problems doing well when competing against vaulters at his level. A few meets of NHing, and confidence disappears.

I now have to assume that Lukyanenko will not be happy that Lukyanenko won't be there :-) (minor injury)

He's NH'd probably 80% of the time since he's graduated college. I'm sure he's used to it.
Snark aside, what happened? Does anyone know?

Walker has to compete at Nationals, as do all the wild-card owners. It just doesn't matter how well he vaults.

Any ideas why Walker isn't jumping/? Is that because he doesn't need to compete at nationals?
