i was watching the paris meeting today on US, and dwight was mispronouncing every name possible (like lavillenie, which he reduced to 2 syllables), then the clincher was when he said that sanya was going for the stadium record held by "marita cook."
Kszczot won a 600m race yesterday in Lahti in 1:14.55, just 0.14 off the Andrea Longo's European best. He finished exactly 1 second ahead of Dmitrijs Milkevics.
Back to the topıc, Kszczot wıll be runnıng the 800 at the Kusocınskı Memorıal thıs Sunday, facıng Reuben Bett (sub 1:45 thıs year, but only thırd ın Dessau, nearly 1.5 secs behınd Adam), Marcın Lewandowskı and Pawel Czapıewskı.
ah yes, the undotted i, like in the hurdler Nevin Yanıt
(it's pronounced sort of like uh)
More or less. Of course Turkısh keyboards have the regular dotted i as well, but ıt's ın the wrong place, so I can't be bothered to use ıt - ıt slows down my typıng too much :P
And hıs name ıs pronounced just the way ıt's wrıtten :P ı.e. K-sh-chot, but of course you can't say ıt properly unless you're Polısh
Only one syllable?
Reminds me of World Chess Champion during the 30ies, Max Euwe of the Netherlands - English speakers mispronounce his surname in a couple dozen different ways, but no matter what you try they never get it right. Eventually, some give up and call him "Max" - and mispronounce that, too.
He just mıssed a medal at last year's World Junıors, after wınnıng a bronze ın the Euro Junıors a year earlıer. Last weekend (just 3 days before the Dessau race) he ran 47.00 ın faırly poor condıtıons ın the Polısh clubs champıonshıps, so ıt dıd look lıke he was ready to run a fast 2-lapper.
And hıs name ıs pronounced just the way ıt's wrıtten :P ı.e. K-sh-chot, but of course you can't say ıt properly unless you're Polısh
Can't give you much background but saw him run in Turin and was impressed as soon as I saw him in the heats. Has great turnover; a lot of potential. To be honest I'm more impressed with him than Lewandowski (who improved to 1:45.03 in Hengelo on the weekend).
