I can only guess that a +1.8m/s following wind at least makes up for the bad weather.

Worth noting Bayer jumped 8.12 (+1.0) in the same meet a year ago.

It's quite cold there. And as for Kappler she might still be rather unstable after her injury. But certainly the good results of Wesel look a bit less impressive now.

Bayer produces the first wind-legal 8m jump of the day (8.02/1.8 in fourth round). Moves into second place, but then bumped into third as Tomlinson follows with 8.10w/2.1.

    LJ meeting, Bad Langensalza

Women's comp is finished. Men's comp is still taking place - there's a live ticker here:
    http://www.weitsprung-meeting.de/index.php?ticker

The results don't seem as 'wow' as they have been in previous years. No one is over 8m yet in the men's comp (Bayer jumped 7.64m in the first, 7.78m in the second - eek!) and Kappler only managed 6.42m in the women's comp (having jumped 6.80m last week and 6.97w here last year and 6.90 the year before).

    Women's results are:
    1. Naide Gomes 6.90m
    2. Olga Kucherenko 6.84m
    3. Karin Mey Melis 6.77m
    4. Sophie Krauel 6.60m
    5. Claudia Tonn 6.47m
    6. Bianca Kappler 6.42m
