I see a Kenyan athlete coming from nowhere win
    the race...

Garry, I understand my last thread was not very
    subtle. Sorry...

El G will likely run the same way he ran in the WCs. He has conditioned himself to be able to run an entire 1500 faster than anyone on the planet and he has the psychological resources to be able to do it from 1000m or more out.

He is a phenom unlike we have seen before. So physically and psychologially superior over an entire 1500 to anyone else in the world. And, he knows how to race to his strength.

          My question is:
Will he be strong enough mentally to dominate
such a terrible pressure after two failures?
And there is a French proverb saying something
          like "never two without three"...
He deserves Gold more than anyone else. But we
all know track is more a matter of opportunity
          than of justice.

This is a great question. You are right, the pressure will be unbearable. We all know how devastating the other losses were to him. But, I think he will prevail. His 15/5 performance last year showed that he is stronger than ever. His "grind-em all the way through" strategy would be impossible for anyone but him. With him in there we know itr won't be a slow sit and kick final.

            It will certainly be exciting.

I agree with Cyril. El G is the strongest 1500 guy on the planet and he knows that's how he can win--by having a fast, honest pace rather than taking chances over the last 200. He can run a solo 3:29/3:30 and I'd guess that that's how he'll do it. Of course, it would help if he could get a teammate "helper" into the final...

my feeling is that he won't win OG.

                he's not a 3'26 guy anymore - more like a low 3'28 one.baala is high 3'28 guy & improving.el g is slowing,whilst baala is quickening.i reckon the intersection will be at the OG,with baala running the low 3'28's & elg the mid-to-high 3'28's.

if Vegas were giving odds now,i would put money on baala to win
