Barringer is off da chain (too 90s?) She could go for an AR, but I guess she'll save that race for USATF, esp. considering what she just did at Pre!

Did Mel Lawrence's 9:52 break Emma Coburn's AJR? Lawrence is freshman, no?

Given what she has been doing, she could break the AR here AND at Nationals, although to be the record holder she will not only have to beat the record, she will also have to beat Willard. Note that the latest TFN eTrack (name?) indicated that she had all of the CLs between 800 and 10,000 and she would likely have the latter if she ran one (and she might have the 800 if she raced that one in the right field, given her sub-4 (2:02.0 is much easier than sub-4).

I am interested to she what Bush does here, especially if Barringer goes out at a 'modest' pace that she can hold on to without blowing up. Unfortunately, the weather might impose some limitations.

Absurd: Barringer has about a 40 to 50 meter lead after only one lap.

Willard is entered in USAT&F 1500 & Steeple while Barringer is entered in 1500, Steeple & 5000.

I assume that Barringer will drop the 5000 at USAT&F.

Beddell's 9.56,19 broke her own Baylor record (9.58,46 - Stanford). Franek (9.49,49) broke her own school record as well (9.58,56). Even more impressive was that Lennie Waite took off nearly 10 seconds from her previous PB, 9.50,48 to 10.00,30 in establishing a new Rice school record.

It seems that Barringer just wanted to run free of traffic. After her initial burst, she just sat on the lead for the entire race, even letting the gap close a little bit on the final lap. On Friday, I expect her to put the collegiate record on the shelf for at least a generation. I wonder if anyone will be brave enough to go with her as Susan Kuijken did indoors.

I believe Nicole Bush, fourth at USA OT, will attempt to hang with Barringer as far as Bush's comfort zone can stretch without breaking. Put it on the table now, as she has USATF up next and a potential (however great or small) shot at the world championships.

                        Bush w/ Barringer comfort zone = 2 laps :-)

It is possible that they have even discussed the race, with Bush wanting to get to 9:30 and maybe Barringer would start at 9:25 pace rather than 9:18, especially since she has run some good times with accelerations in the second half of the race. [Note that Bush seemed to have little issue with run an apparently 'fast' prelim. If she feels capable of 9:30- her heat time does not look quite so fast.
