question just posed on the weather thread: if tonite is done (and it appears to be say the doppler dudes), what does that do to this event? One big race for the final or two sections? Or change everything around w/ the 10K and try to do 3 races in three days? Changes the whole situation on Rupp's double, eh? (if it eventuates that we're done)

Doppler dudes are wrong. We're starting up again. Tentative starting time is 10:15pm. Field events are still a bit iffy.

Rupp ran a smart low effort race.

Hassan Mead looks like the real deal.

        Good night. 8-)

Looks like heat one had a faster closing 1.600m than did heat two, 4.11,71 to 4.16,9, with Rupp surging on in with his qualifier with a 4.12,34 finish.

An on-scene observer reported 1:57ish close for the guys in Rupp's heat.

It shouldn't really effect anyone too bad. The events effected were wPV, wLJ, mHJ, mJT, 400, 100, Steeple, and 5K. The earliest any of them have to return are the long jumpers at 4:45pm, so I assume that's plenty of time to sleep in.

Hey, they're college students! I was ALWAYS awake at that time of night back then. (Then again, that might explain why I ran only one mediocre season of NCAA track and then switched to journalism. )

The results now have lap splits for the mens and womens 5000 (and the 800s as well).

If I were a guy running against Rupp in these champs, I'd feel bad not to make him earn every bit of his status. Not that it would be hard for him to do...lol

HOwever, if I had made a final with him, I would make that pace honest as he would already swallow everyone up whole with the amount of talent he has off of a slow pace. So no need to "sit back" and let him do the inevitable!
