It would be extremely difficult for Holliday to play in the NFL and run track. It's possible the NFL team might not permit him to anyway.

Holliday really only has a chance as a kick returner in all likelihood. Whether he can handle it is anyone's guess.

Gleason, you're right about Sanders & Jackson, but they were superstars, hence special treatment? Maybe Holidays' football coach would not agree with track also.I think he may be a better sprinter than football player, and even though he would probably find football more lucrative, I am hoping he would go the track route if he believes his talents are more suited for sprinting.

I'm not an NFL expert, but John Madden (I listen to his local radio program) says that long yardage "packages" are more common now than ever before.

Other problems can be negotiated into Holliday's contract.
        none

As far as fotoball at the pro level for Holliday, his agent is gonna get some feelings back about where he might be projected to go. Remember a football contract isn't guaranteed. If he is a low draft pick, you're not talking that much more money than his track contract.

I doubt he plays as a third down back and right now he's not good enough to negotiate something like this into his contract. This is a guy who's rushed 87 times and caught 4 passes in his college career.

He'd need to be at every possible team activity and showing progress.

Exactly, also he may end up as a free agent (undrafted) really little, if any leverage.

I agree. He's fast as all get out but he's no Darren Sproles.

What do you reckon Holliday's 40-yard time would be using the NFL Combine's current timing setup with his current level of fitness? I'm guessing high 4.1x.

Whatever it is, Jacoby Ford's is probably faster.

Ford beat Holliday in the NCAA 60m in March. And I think he was ahead of Holliday at 40m in Fayetteville.

That's no difinitive asnwer, the only thing you can say is that he beat Holliday in the 60m's, but the 100m's Holliday has at least shown to be faster.

The question was why I thought Ford's 40y time would be faster than Holliday's.

Ford is the consistent fast starter, he might have gotten him at 40m's.
