US Nationals: Things to ponder?

I just noticed a few entries for US nationals in 2 wks:

I see Lagat is entered in the 800m's, presumably getting in some speed work in his preparations for WC's this summer.

What is the cutof for entrants into any event, the list for the 1500m's seems incredibly long this yr.

Sure did, as he missed out on the 100m semi-finals by .001, to Xman.

Not quite. "X-Man" ran 10.086w in semi #1 to nip I. Williams who ran 10.087w.
Rogers ran 10.178 in semi #2 to nip Spearmon who ran 10.179.

I assume that Spearmon was injured running 100s in May, so he decided to skip 100s in 2009 at least until July.

Costs 25 dollars through the end of today (15th) 75 bucks through the 21st. First really good idea of how the fields will shake out won't be until after the 21st.

Smart move to ONLY run the 200 this year IMO. Best chance at success.

I agree. OT had four days rest between 100 & 200, so plenty of time to recover from fatigue or minor injury. USAT&F has 100 semi and final on Friday, 200 heat on Saturday.

I didn't see their names, but German Fernandez is entered at 1500. I thought that gh had reported that NCAA would have been his final race of 2009 track.

Yes, "definitive" word out of Stillwater was that NCAA was it. But recall that on another thread I said that "is this his last collegiate race?" was a big topic on press row.

Recall Flotrack interviewwith Fernandez last year:

FT: When you went from high school to going to look at colleges, was there anything like that movie? Is there pressure to go pro? Are colleges throwing their most beautiful girls at you when you visit? Anything like that?

GF: ...Well, I can say I had pressure on turning pro. At first it wasn't really in my mind to turn pro. But then, they contacted me and I kind of second guessed myself. I had given my word to say I would run at Oklahoma State...so, my parents talked it over with me and my coach and it took me a week to respond back to them. I think I made the right choice. I've been loving it over here. It's been great training with guys that are on my level. In high school I trained by myself and it was hard to do it every day by myself. Everyone over here just helps each other out. It's a great feeling.

Wonder if he's been second-guessing any these past few days.
